August 7, 2023What Is Google Analytics Used For?
Google Analytics will help you to see where users are going on your site and can give you insights to where to improve your content to keep them interested. Google Analytics will keep track of where your users started on the site and how many pages they visited.
The first report on the home dashboard will show you the amount of traffic you’ve gotten over the last week, compared to the previous week. This is a perfect snapshot to quickly see how your website has been performing over the past week. With this knowledge you can see if you are on an upward trend with traffic or it’s slowing down.
Having a snapshot into your website’s daily traffic is great, but when you’re done with that it’s time to find further insights into the page traffic. Let’s next go to the Page title traffic.
The Views by Page title and screen will help you see where user traffic is coming into your site.
Events
Page events are where you can dig in a bit more to find what users are doing on each page they visit.
This widget shows how many ‘New Users’ have visited the site and where they came from. A new user is a stat the Google Analytics tracks so that you can see if your pages are getting traction with new users and not returning visitors.
There are a lot of events that Google Analytics can record that users will trigger on your site. The default ones are ‘page_view’ (which sends on a users visit), ‘session_start’ (which gets recorded on the first page a user visits), and first_visit (which gets recorded the first time a user visits the site)
Tracking a user’s intention on your website can be done with the many Google Analytics events you can trigger. You can find out more about Google Analytics Events in their help documents.
